POSITION:

Head Cook

Permanent full-time, Operations Position (Avg. 40 hour per week)

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

General knowledge of, and practical experience in, camp cooking procedures.

Ability to lead others and share the workload.

Ability to lead and work well with others, to encourage and motivate others.

Willingness to follow instructions and submit to leadership.

Must be physically and mentally able to perform the demands of the work. (lifting, on feet for the day)

Must be a self-starter, trustworthy, dependable, available, adaptable.

Possess a current Food Handler Training Certificate or able to obtain one.

Possess a current Standard First Aid Certificate or able to obtain one.

Medeba Proságo Graduate and/or Summer Staff experience an asset

 

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

To be responsible for the preparation of meals in accordance with menus and recipes for our mid-week and weekend groups and summer camp program.

To direct the personnel assigned to assist in the preparation of all meals.

Provide training and orientation for cooks as needed.

Assign tasks to cooks daily.

Oversee all job responsibilities of the cooks.

To work safely, efficiently and within the accepted government health standards. Cleanliness is essential.

Ensure that meals are prepared and served on time.

Manage stock including receiving deliveries and maintaining food storage areas.

To lead a daily devotion time for the cooks in the summer.

To make sure customer service is a top priority of yours and the personnel working for you.

To keep the kitchen area and all equipment clean in accordance to standards set out by Medeba and the Health authorities.
