General purpose: The Camp Director leads the program team and reports to the Executive Director. He/she is responsible for the planning and implementation of the summer program, including, themes, activities, staffing, camper follow-up and all spiritual facets of the Camp ministry. The Director represents the Camp at promotional events and camp fairs throughout the year.

Spiritual purpose: Camp Cherith is to function as a unified spiritual organism rather than as a collection of independent persons filling positions. The employees of Camp are its spiritual center and the spiritual objectives of camp are only achieved as each employee and volunteer demonstrates their faith. Therefore, a profession of faith in Christ, obedience to professional Christian standards, and a quality of Christ likeness, are required in this position.

o share in the responsibility for the spiritual development of employees, volunteers and campers throughout the summer, through, the coordination of staff devotions, campfire messages, prayer meetings, and selection of curricula

• Administrative:
o assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget as it relates to summer program and staffing needs, in accordance with Camp Cherith's philosophy and stewardship principles
o assess staffing needs in accordance with Camp standards and budget, including but not limited: 
 recruitment
 hiring employees and volunteers
 ensuring compliance of all summer employees and volunteers with Camp philosophy, government standards, health and safety, risk and insurance management policies and procedures
o maintain and implement all training and operational materials to meet or exceed all risk and safety standards
o training, evaluating, managing and deploying employees and volunteers in a safe effective and efficient manner that recognizes their unique gifts and abilities

• Program:
o work with the Executive Director to chose the program committee
o work with the Executive Director and the program committee to continually develop and update the camp summer programs and related documentation 
o purchase and maintain all program and activity equipment in collaboration with the Executive Director
o ensure all needed permits and memberships for activities are applied and paid for

• Promotional:
o attract and retain campers, employees and volunteers through camp fairs, presentations to churches, Christian schools, Bible schools, conferences and through other communication tools

• Professional:
o attend professional development conferences throughout the year as assigned by the Executive Director

The majority of this position will be performed from a home office, though extensive time on camp property (Walkerton, Ontario) in the spring and summer and travelling to promotional events will be required. The position will also require evening and weekend hours throughout the year and irregular hours during the camp season. Summer lodging will be provided on camp property.
