General Director, Pioneer Camp Manitoba. MB (Posted 10/20/23, Closing 11/17/23)
Are you an energetic leader who loves developing and empowering a team to accomplish a mission? Do you love helping children, youth and young adults encounter God and grow as disciples? Do you thrive in the great outdoors? If you answered yes, we’d love to meet you and discern together if God is calling you to
become the next General Director for Pioneer Camp Manitoba.
Established 81 years ago on MacKinnon Island, Shoal Lake, the camp is just across the Manitoba border in northern Ontario. We are honoured to be on Treaty 3 Territory, the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, and the homeland of the Metis Nation. We are grateful for the relationship with our neighbours, Iskatewizaagegan #39 Independent First Nation and Shoal Lake 40 First Nation.
Every summer, we welcome hundreds of campers aged from 7 to 15 along with a solid team of staff and volunteers to MacKinnon Island. In spring and fall we serve guests from schools, churches and other organizations. In the winter months, the core team operates from Winnipeg.
Wilderness canoe trips, creation care, Christian discipleship and leadership development are core aspects of our programming. The camp operates in late spring, summer and early fall. The off-season office is in Winnipeg.
The General Director leads an experienced full-time team, which expands significantly during the summer and shoulder season months. A strong network of alumni, friends and ministry partners give generously of themselves and their resources.
Together, the whole team is committed to providing children, youth and young adults with fun, creative and adventurous experiences that lead to encountering God in creation and in community.
We are grateful for our history and excited about the future.
